ADVANCED WORKSHOP ON THE VOICE AND THE TEXT OF MARY STUART BY FRIEDRICH SCHILLER FOR PROFESSIONAL ACTORS AND ACTRESSES

Glasgow, 23rd July – 3rd August 2012

The workshop will last 10 days from the 23rd July – 3rd August 2012 inclusive and will take place at a studio in Glasgow. The workshop will run from 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm with an hour for Lunch, from Monday to Friday.

From Monday to Thursday each morning session will begin with different breathing exercises, done in pairs and alone, and then each participant will work individually on the voice. This will begin with singing the sound from the body and working on both the male and female qualities of sound, linking the vibration, energy and quality of sound directly to work with the text.

The afternoon sessions will be spent working with a scene from Mary Stuart. The texts will be sent to each participant well in advance and should be learnt before the commencement of the workshop. A CD of the Scene will be sent to each participant of the workshop with the script. Friday sessions will begin with a short warm up and then move straight into the work with the text.

The workshop will allow international actors and actresses to work together outside the pressure of rehearsals. The actors and actresses will have time and space to explore the work with the voice and link this work directly with the text of the scene they will be working on.

Participants will be accepted on their real wish to develop and explore their voices with the text and to go further and deeper into the work with other actors from different countries.
